Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar, popularly known as Vijay, is one of the most successful and popular next-gen actors of Tamil Film industry. His fans fondly named him “Ilayathalapathy” which means ‘Young General’.
He is also a playback singer and humanitarian. Over the years, he has given us all some amazing performances that have left all his fans spellbound and mesmerized. After tasting his first ever commercial success in the year 1996, the famous Tamil film star has indeed come a long way.
Staying true to his humble off-screen persona and a subtle image, he took a drastic step in his personal life that has made him a true hero in the eyes of his fans. And that major milestone is getting married to one of his fans in real life. That is right. He fell in love with one of his real life fans, named Sangeetha Sornalingam.

Sangeeta is a London-born SriLankan Tamil.
First meeting with the fan
It was in 1996 while Vijay was in the middle of a film shoot in the film city in Chennai that he was introduced to a female fan, her name was Sangeetha Sornalingam. Since she is the daughter of a Tamil industrialist and on the visit to Chennai she took the time to personally meet him and appreciated Vijay’s on-screen performance in Poove Unakkaga. Vijay invited Sangeeta for a casual chat with his parents which she accepted. The duo began chatting with each other for a while and post then, they became close friends.
Vijay developed a certain liking for the lady by then.

Second meeting with his Lady Love
Since Sangeeta was in Chennai for a brief while, Vijay later invited her to his place for a formal dinner with his family members and it is then Vijay’s parents asked Sangeeta for the marriage. Perhaps, the cupid struck the 2 love birds. She gladly accepted the proposal.
Ultimately, the wedding bells were just round the corner and the couple decided to tie the knot on August 25, 1999. Since Vijay is a Christian and Sangeetha is a Hindu, the wedding took place in accordance with complete Hindu traditions.
Sangeetha looked vivacious in an orange and golden kanjeevaram saree and she looked every bit of a beautiful bride. She complemented her look with a beautiful golden choker necklace and gold maang tikka and we must say she could not look any better. Vijay, on the other hand, looked subtle and dapper in a white dhoti and kurta and breathed an air of freshness in his wedding attire.

A lot many renowned personalities came in to be a part of the wedding celebrations and bless the newlywed couple. Notable ones were Ajith Kumar, Shalini, Prasanth, and Surya.
Today, the duo is a happy couple and is blessed with a beautiful son and a daughter.
