The Indian flavor of wedding cannot be surpassed by any luxury wedding of Europe. India’s dear female chess champion Koneru Humpy got hitched to Anvesh in a beautiful, colorful wedding ceremony on 13 August 2014.
Hyderabad-based Anvesh Dasari is the Project Director (R & D) in Effectronics private limited. The families arranged a meeting between the two. After a couple of conversions over phone things instantly got clicked. They got engaged on 22nd May 2014 and an elaborate wedding was planned for August.
The pre-bridal haldi and nuptial was organized in a convention center of Vijayawada. More than 5000 people attended the event. The wedding was performed as per Hindu traditions. Elegantly dressed in a red saree Humpy performed the traditional Gauri puja with her husband.
Anvesh wore traditional white silk kurta and dhoti with golden border.
After Kanyadaan, Humpy changed to white and golden saree for the final part of the ceremony.
A star-studded reception held on 17 August saw stalwarts of chess Abhijit Kunte, Dronavalli Harika, Lalith Babu, and World Junior Champion Soumya Swaminathan in attendance. Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu was also present to bless the newlywed. The event was celebrated at Seshasai Kalyan Mandapam, Vijayawada.
