Some weddings are not just a show-off of grandeur, they are meant to inspire and set an example. Such was the wedding of Karnataka’s Transport Minister R Ramalinga Reddy’s daughter Sowmya and Abhishek Raje wedding held in Bangalore.
Sowmya Reddy is an animal rights activist and environmentalist. She had a noble thought of promoting green living and what could be the better place than her own wedding! It was a zero-waste wedding. Every effort was laid to make the event eco-friendly. Around 150 social workers from Hariso Dal were appointed to eye on proper segregation of waste.
Right from the wedding invitations which were made from recycled paper to the feast, everything was eco-friendly.
The flowers are used in every wedding but this wedding used recycled paper instead. No flower bouquet was accepted.
For the reception, 20,000 guests were invited. There was a dress code for the invitees. They were asked not to carry leather and silk clothes. The bride and the groom too followed the rule in dressing and for the makeup cruelty-free cosmetics were used.
