Bollywood actor and stand-up comedian Vir Das married his girlfriend of 5 years in a hush-hush wedding ceremony on 19 October 2014 in Sri Lanka. While the whole news came up as a surprise for everyone when he took to twitter to put a picture of the couple saying they got married.
The ‘Delhi Belly’ and ‘Love Aaj Kal’ actor is also a famous YouTube personality. He has his own comedy shows running over national channels. Vir Das is popularly known as the pajama comedian.
Shivani is an event organizer who fell in love with the comedian at first sight. She had gatecrashed Vir’s house warming party and they met for the first time. Their friendship then blossomed into a beautiful relationship. After a courtship of five years, Vir and Shivani decided to take the plunge. They got married in a low-key wedding ceremony.
They wanted their wedding to be a very private affair, so, the wedding that took place in Sri Lanka was a small gathering of 100 guests. Only close family and friends were a part of the event.
The wedding events included a pool party, a rock concert, sangeet ceremony and the final wedding ceremony.
The whole event took place in a beach resort in Sri Lanka. The pool party for the guests was organized within the resort itself. The couple along with the guest enjoyed the afternoon laying around the pool with food doing their rounds. This was like a mehendi cum pool party. The bride was seen in a colorful outfit while the groom wore a pale blue shirt and pant. The bride had adorned her hands with the mehendi. The couple happily went about hosting their guest and having an amazing time.
The same evening Sangeet took place at the same venue. Guests which mostly included Vir’s comedian friends performed on stage making everyone giggle and enjoy the whole evening. Making it special was Vir’s special song for his fiancé which he performed for the first time live on stage. The bride opted for a red designer outfit while the groom looked dapper in a blue traditional suit.
Later that evening, a rock concert was organized on a private beach for family and friends. The whole wedding troop had so much fun. They danced the night away.
The next day, the couple took their pheras in a traditional ceremony. The bride looked cheerful in a pink lehenga and walked her way into it the mandap. The groom was seen wearing a black sherwani. The best part of the wedding was the theme. Each and every guest was asked to switch their phones off and put it away so that they could spend time with each other and fully be a part of their wedding ceremony. This 19, October 2014 was indeed very special for them.
The couple promised to host a wedding reception for friends from the industry in Mumbai later as Vir immediately had to take off for his movie shoot in Bangkok.
