When South and North
have matched up, it has always been a grand celebration. That is exactly how
the wedding of Nidhi Subbaiah and Lavesh Khairajani was. Nidhi got married to
her longtime boyfriend in Coorg. The celebration of their relationship was a combination
of Sikh riwaaz and Sindhi customs.
Their attraction
towards each other grew step by step as they crossed each other’s paths in one
after the other events. Lavesh was excited to meet Nidhi when he knew that she
was an actress.
The Kannada actress
was bumping into Lavesh on and off, later when Lavesh turned out to be her
friend’s best friend who came to pick her up at a film shooting; that when they
took off. During one of the New Year’s celebrations, Nidhi and Lavesh decided
to go to her hometown Coorg. It was there when Lavesh took the opportunity to
propose Nidhi to marry him in the resort where he just went down on his knees.
Their planning for the
wedding started four months before the grand date. The wedding was perfectly
organized by Nidhi’s friends, family and her Lakiru Events planners from
Bangalore. Lavesh wanted a destination wedding and two places were sparkling on
the list; Coorg and Goa.
As soon as they
stepped inside Club Mahindra Virajpet Resort, they knew that ‘this is it’. It
took them no time to fix their minds on that beautiful place. Ideal space,
accommodation and perfect for the wedding theme, was the venue for the wedding.
There was Santh Shagan
where Lavesh was tied an anklet on his right foot, oil was poured on his head
by 7 married women and after that Lavesh broke a diya with his new shoes. To
remove the evil eye his new clothes were torn as per the Sindhi tradition. Nidhi
was taken aback by seeing him at the end of the ceremony.
Laveesh Nidhi Sangeet
Sangeet was a
spectacular event conducted by the event management team as they erected a
spectacular forest of fairy lights all over the lawn. The night was lit with
the lights and the performances of the families.
For Sangeet, Nidhi
decided to wear a Perfect pink glittery Lehenga designed by Dolly J with some
stunning appliqué work on it. She wore subtle makeup to compliment her outfit
and heirloom accessory.
And the following day,
early morning was the grand day of her wedding, the baarat lasted an hour and
the entry of the bride was planned outages ago to mix both the cultures. Nidhi’s
brothers were in Coorg attire and they performed a ‘valaga’ dance as well. For
her grand celebration, she wore powder pink Lehenga designed by Tamanna Punjabi
Kapoor. Her heirloom jewelry included Nath, Statement necklace of gold and an
exclusive nath.
In Madikeri was the
reception and there they did the Ganga Pooja. Nidhi wore Kanjeevaram red saree
from Coorg and matched with the gold necklace and a gajra in her hair; a little
south Indian twist.
