Popular South Indian actress Deepika Kamaiah got married to her handsome companion Sumanth Gopi, an Australia-based risk analyst and banker in an elaborate wedding ceremony in Bangalore attended by family and close friends. The wedding procession and all the functions took place on the outskirts of the city in November last year post which the bride flew to Australia with her husband. Much was the hype of the wedding in South India that the hashtag #desi2aussie soon started going viral and social media sites were flooded with the couple’s pictures and congratulatory messages soon after the big announcement.
The popular ‘Sandalwood’ star has tons to be excited about thinking of her wedding celebrations. To begin with, the fascinating part is that this was a complete arranged marriage affair where the groom, Sumanth was introduced to her by her dad’s friend. The big proposal and popping of the question took place in a secretive family dinner in Bali where the groom had already sought her dad’s permission to marry his daughter. Knowing this swept the bride off her feet and she was too touched with this.
The wedding extravaganza was an elaborate affair with an amalgamation of several themes for all occasions. Being South Indian roots, the wedding took place in South Indian style while the reception was based on an English theme, with guests turned up wearing formal attires. Haldi ceremony, on the other hand, was an exquisite Punjabi affair and was one spectacular feast to watch out for.
The wedding planning fell on the shoulders of Pritie from Bling Mushrooms and she simply nailed her job. For the mehendi ceremony, Deepika had arranged for a terrific pampering session for all her bridesmaids at Polished Nails Studio in Indiranagar. The mehendi was an apt epitome of Punjabi theme and the décor was beautifully done in orange and yellow. The bride was seen wearing a beautiful orange and yellow lehenga by Kamaiah Design Studio which happens to be her own clothing line in Bangalore. The bride looked ethereal in a pink and green crop top lehenga that perfectly matched the color of the theme.
The traditional Telegu wedding took place in beautiful marigold flower and gold bells theme all through the festivities. Even the wedding invitations were done in yellow and were wrapped in potlis with a life-size Ganesha statue at the entrance. To give a modern touch to the décor, props like autorickshaws, photo booths and gazebos decorated in bright orange marigolds were present too.
