Indian weddings are the
extravagant celebration involving lot of glamor. Celebrity weddings have boasted
of extra richness with film stars in full attendance making it a starry affair.
The youngest daughter
of Hema Malini and Dharmendra, Ahana Deol got married to Vaibhav Vohra in a
star studded ceremony.
Vaibhav is a Delhi
based businessman. Ahana, a trained Bharatanatyam, and Odissi dancer met
Vaibhav at sister Esha Deol’s wedding. The two dated for two years before
taking the big step.
The couple got engaged
in a private ceremony among close family and friends on June 2013. This low-key
affair took place in Mumbai. The couple exchanged rings in front of the
guests.
Ahana’s wedding
announcement was a pleasant surprise among fans as it came very soon after Esha
Deol’s wedding.
The whole wedding
ceremony was well-organized and executed. The elated veteran actress, MP and
bride's mother Hema Malini quoted “My marriage happened very quietly and quickly.
There was no time or occasion for a big ceremony, but now, there is finally
going to be a big fat Punjabi wedding in my family. From the Punjabi baraat to
our doorstep, to a very Tamil welcome for the groom into the mandap; I am very
excited.”
The whole event was a
star studded affair which had mehendi, sangeet, a wedding ceremony and a
reception.
A private mehendi was
organized at Hema Malini’s residence on January 31, 2013. It was attended by
close family and friends. The bride was seen wearing a beautiful bright blue
lehenga and a floral tiara.
The sangeet and other
events took place at the ITC Maratha Hotel in Mumbai. The sangeet was a classy
event where family and friends danced the night away to make it memorable for
the couple.
The bride was seen wearing a blue Neeta Lulla lehenga. Hema Malini
performed especially for the couple making it more memorable for them.
Ahana always wanted a
Victorian themed wedding. As per her wish, the wedding ceremony was founded on
the Victorian theme with an open sky mandap with Royal vintage backdrop. Trails
of creepers, pale lavender flowers and bougainvillea with peacock details made
most of the garden setting. Gazebos were detailed with simple tea lights
hanging everywhere giving it an exquisite feel.
The wedding took place
in ITC with the bride and groom dressed to point. The ceremony took place as
per both the north and south culture. The first half was as per Punjabi
traditions and the second half was as per Tamil culture.
The bride was seen
wearing a red lehenga while the groom opted for a gold sherwani. Esha Deol was
seen nursing a broken hand with her husband with her all the time.
The guest list included stars like Shahrukh Khan, Rekha, the Bachchans, Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Juhi Chawla, Sonakshi Sinha among many others; music veterans Amjad Ali Khan, Asha Bhosle, Bappi Lahiri along with political bigwigs like Uddhav Thackeray and Amar Singh; and the Ambanis.
