After five long years of relationship, the couple, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, decided to tie the nuptial knot and take their vows on 16th October 2012.
Saif Ali Khan hails from a Muslim family and he is the proud son of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore Khan and Kareena Kapoor comes from a Punjabi family, she is the second daughter of Randhir Kapoor and Babita Kapoor. Both belong to different cultures and traditions and still, they have an eternal love story as an inspiration to the next generation.
The whole wedding was a grand 5-day affair that kicked started with Sangeet at the bride’s Bandra residence and culminated with an after wedding party in Delhi which was hosted by Sharmila Tagore Khan.

It was a merry some and rocking event where both the families came together and celebrated the new union of Nawabs and Kapoors.
The function was held at Kareena Kapoor’s residence in Bandra. The buddies of Kareena Malaika Arora Khan, Tushar Kapoor, Amrita Arora and Shakeel Ladak graced the occasion.
The whole ambiance was thrilled with rocking and live performances for the couple and everyone had a blast at the event.

The Mehndi Event
The Mehndi event was more closed. It was attended by very close family members and friends.
Kareena was looking out of the world in a pretty pink outfit and Saif looked stylish in his suave self in a tux.
After the mehndi event was done, the invitees were taken for an exceptional dinner at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.

The final and the most important part was the D-Day for the couple. The rumors were rife that the couple would perform a nikah ceremony but nothing happened like that. The couple took vows for each other after a registered marriage and that’s it.
Saif’s mother Sharmila Tagore too changed her religion after getting married but that was not the case with Kareena. The couple respects each other’s religion and preferences and were happy with a registered marriage.

Kareena wore her mother-in-law’s ghagra while performing the symbolic act. Her mother in law wore the same at the time of her marriage and she passed the legacy to her daughter in law. Designer Ritu Kumar had the privilege to touch up the family heirloom and make it perfect for the next queen to wear it.
The Post Wedding Party
The post wedding party was a grand one with over 150 guests. Politicians, celebrities, film stars, all were seen at the party and it was truly a resplendent affair.
